The Tree of Life
An environmental drama about a father who wants to sell an old tree in the street and a neighbour who defends it.
In a village, an old tree grows between two neighbouring houses. Boltavoy considers the tree his own. When one of its branches breaks and falls on the car he bought on credit, he decides to sell the tree to Khurshid, a furniture maker. But Sherali, his neighbour of forty years, believes the tree is blessed and a symbol of the village, and will not let it be cut down.
Boltavoy’s wife Malika and his son Anvar also try to talk him out of it, and the district environmental inspector warns him that the tree is protected by the state. Caught between money, stubbornness and good neighbourliness, Boltavoy makes a decision that affects the life of his whole family.
