Trampled Feelings
About peace in the family and a woman’s worth: a play full of music and dance that makes you laugh and cry.
The author’s aim is peace in families, strong family bonds and children who grow up happy. The play shows a woman who is humiliated and undervalued by her husband, until in the end Masuma’s husband, Matlab, comes to understand his mistake.
The suitors who answer a newspaper advertisement for Masuma turn out to be divorced men who have lost their own happiness, and their stories become a lesson for Matlab. The characters reveal themselves through what happens between Matlab and the would-be husbands.
With plenty of music and dance, and each character’s pain and self-discovery, the play moves the audience to laughter one moment and tears the next.
