The Happy Family, or The Cheerful Little Mouse
How a cheerful little mouse, a cat and Aunt Marina became one close, happy family.
The play tells how a cheerful little mouse, Aunt Marina and a cat became a close family. At first Aunt Marina does not want the mouse eating in her kitchen and making holes in her big cheese. To get rid of the mouse, she brings a cat into the house. But the open-hearted, cheerful little mouse plays and laughs with the cat and makes friends with him.
The cat’s tail gets caught in a trap set for the mouse. The little mouse helps free his tail from the trap. The cat decides not to catch the mouse, and the two decide to leave the house together. Aunt Marina comes home carrying a cake. She is a lonely woman who had grown used to the little mouse. Before leaving, the little mouse goes back into the house, hears her words and decides to stay with Aunt Marina. Now the little mouse agrees not to cause Aunt Marina any trouble. They become a happy family.
