The Stick Doll
Spoilt Nozibonu looks down on the simple doll her grandmother made, until she shrinks herself.
A play about what happens when stubborn, fussy, spoilt little children harm nature, the things around them and their toys while playing.
Nozibonu’s grandmother makes her a doll by hand and calls it Stick Doll. The little girl turns her nose up at such a simple toy. When she wakes up from a nap, she has shrunk. When a cockroach and spiders try to capture Nozibonu, Stick Doll rescues her from their attack.
Nozibonu understands Stick Doll’s courage, and why her other toys, offended, would not help her. She sews the bear’s torn-off ear and the lion’s torn-off tail back in place. Only then does she return to her normal size. She tidies the house and amazes her grandmother.
